I was having my before supper nap when I noticed, from my position on the settee, that there was an interesting thing on the TV.It was all about dogs. How many shapes and sizes we are and how we are all wolves at heart.Sorry but I cannot imagine such a distinguished breed, such as myself, could possibly come from these tall pointy eared creatures who LIKE SNOW.Let me tell you that snow is very cold and wet when you have short legs.Your undercarriage freezes and it is not nice.I have only encountered this stuff once and have no desire to meet it again. The wolves did make a lovely noise, much the same note I can reach when the staff are a bit slow in ansering the phone. The two cocker spaniels featured were just like the “sainted” Truffle and Rosie who used to live here.Truffle was the Golden one with the soft”baby seal”look and Rosie was the Orange Roan. She apparently had an attitude which showed in her face, just like the one on the TV.If she was asked if she had “done that” her stack expression was”if I have what are you going to do about it”.I feel no need to give the LOOK,I just plant my feet firmly on the ground and pretend I’m deaf.I can’t say I approved of the museum of stuffed dogs as it seemed a bit undignified(remember I roll in fox poo)and I take issue with the fact that he said that Bassets were made to follow a scent for foot hunts as we can’t run very fast.Yes we can follow a scent very well and my nose is a constant cause of stopping our walks because of this, but I would challenge any human to keep up with me when I want to run.I am greased lightning and have great stamina for a chase.Just because we have exquisitly short, wrinkly legs it does not mean we are slow.We are only slow as a general rule because our noses demand that we investigate every smell thoroughly.Head of staff tells my many admirers that we don’t go for a walk we go for a sniff. So now that Martin Clunes has been told the truth about our running ability I can say that I did enjoy the program and wait for the next one.My paws are now getting tired as I have not stopped since I came back from my” sniff”and I probably need ny mid afternoon nap.
